Our materials

Every day, we work with materials to create timeless and long-lasting outdoor furniture. Every day, we work with materials to create timeless and long-lasting outdoor furniture. As part of our eco-responsible approach, the materials we use to make Azur Confort furniture are chosen with particular care. Wood, finishes, fabrics and foams… find out more about the specific features of our materials.

Robinia wood

As part of our eco-responsible approach, we have chosen to replace exotic woods with European species. The Robinia appeared to be the obvious choice. Dense and naturally resistant to water and fungi, it is considered to be the most durable wood in Europe, demonstrating extraordinary resistance to climatic conditions.

We use Robinia from sustainably managed forests within a 200 km radius of our workshops. This wood arrives at our factory in rough blocks, where we process it to create some of our outdoor furniture. It lends the Séol Collection its straight, fine veining, as well as its yellow hue, which turns golden under the action of UV rays and oxidation.

Chesnut wood

Appreciated for its durability and aesthetic appeal, we use chestnut for our Riviera and Dairi collections. With a strong presence in Europe, France is the continent’s leading producer. Easy to work, this dense wood is rich in tannins, making it naturally resistant to rot and insects, which makes it ideal for outdoor use.

Its light colour and medium grain allow excellent impregnation of oiled and stained finishes, while bringing out the straight, highly aesthetic grain of the chestnut.

Finishes

Oil, stain or lacquer… The application of finishes is an important stage in the fabrication of our outdoor furniture. Over the decades, Azur Confort has developed real expertise in this field, enabling us to create a wide range of colours, from the most neutral to the most vibrant ! As well as being aesthetically pleasing, the finishes protect the wood from external conditions and slow down the process of wear and tear, offering better protection against impacts and scratches.

Since 2024, we have been using water-based finishes, which reduce the risk of contaminating the environment, are healthier for our teams and help us to reduce our production waste and the risk of contaminating both the environment and our teams. A further step in our eco-responsible approach.

Fabrics and foams

Just like wood, the fabrics and foams used in our outdoor furniture are selected for their high resistance. In terms of fabrics, we work with brands renowned for the high quality of their fabrics, such as Sunbrella, Pierre Frey and Serge Ferrari, which is less than thirty kilometres from our factory.

For cushions, we have chosen a special foam for outdoor use. Its honeycomb structure allows water to pass through, limiting the risk of mould. Like the fabric, it dries quickly so that the furniture can be used at any time.
